8751President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed Uzbekistan Airways to take measures to prevent ticket price increases. This was revealed by the airline’s chairman, Shuhrat Khudoykulov, during an interview with "Uzbekistan 24" TV channel on March 27, following a meeting led by the President on privatization issues.
According to Shuhrat Khudoykulov, the President has directed the transition from national accounting standards to International Financial Reporting Standards. This will allow the company to capitalize on costs in the future, maintain ticket prices, be flexible in the market, and ensure affordability for the public.
Additionally, Mirziyoyev has tasked the airline with ensuring that ticket prices remain stable and that this process is monitored to some extent.
Furthermore, Khudoykulov emphasized that the national airline has been assigned the significant task of conducting an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the international market. It was reported that the transformation office established under Uzbekistan Airways is responsible for this process.
In December 2022, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals for transforming the "Uzbekistan Airways" Joint Stock Company. At that time, measures were outlined to introduce a corporate governance system based on international experience, expand the fleet, improve service quality, and enhance cargo transportation networks. It was also stated that the privatization of the airline would be completed according to global standards with the involvement of foreign investors.
