To ensure the successful participation of athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, 310 local sports schools in Uzbekistan will serve as the “selection base” for national teams. This was announced today, February 13, at a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who also serves as Chairman of the National Olympic Committee.

The President emphasized the need to radically strengthen the activities of heads of sports departments in all regions and directors of all sports schools. Consequently, heads of sports departments have been placed on a three-month probationary period to enhance their personal responsibility.

Authorities were instructed to set specific goals for each school and to develop a three-year program.

A new initiative will involve assigning professors, teachers, researchers, and graduate and master's students from universities with sports faculties, such as the University of Physical Education, Nukus, Fergana, and Samarkand, to sports schools for six months.

It was emphasized that these educators should write their diploma theses and dissertations on local issues, offering practical solutions.

University rectors will introduce innovative methodologies and approaches, transforming sports schools into scientific and practical bases for dual education.

Based on regional characteristics and the interests and abilities of young people, 56 sports schools have been adapted to focus on Olympic sports. These schools will serve as the primary reserve for national teams.

Selected young athletes from various regions will receive training at these schools under individualized plans.

Regional governors have been tasked with fully equipping these 56 sports schools with dormitories and essential sports equipment.

The Ministry of Sports was instructed to develop a methodology for these schools, drawing on advanced foreign experience and comprehensive knowledge.

It is worth noting that earlier, the President directed officials in boxing, judo, and other sports to double the number of medals.
