President urges hard work for top ten finish at LA 2028 Olympics

The goal is for Uzbekistan to enter the top ten at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. To achieve this, everyone, from responsible leaders to district governors, must work hard. This was announced today, February 13, at a videoconference meeting chaired by the President of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was emphasized that there is no need to be complacent with the results achieved in Paris. History at the Olympic Games is written only in martial arts. At the last Olympics, medals were won in only 5 sports – boxing, judo, taekwondo, weightlifting, and freestyle wrestling.

Ministers and heads of republican organizations have been appointed to each of the sports federations. However, it was noted that the activities of some do not correspond to the existing potential.

The government was criticized for its lack of efforts to meet with athletes and coaches, resolve their problems, cooperate with leaders of foreign or international federations, and send athletes and coaches to training camps when visiting regions, districts, and neighborhoods.
