10268It is known that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine on Ukrainian territory has begun to affect not only warring countries, but also the whole world. Problems with the devaluation of the Russian ruble and currency exchange have negatively affected Uzbek migrant workers in Russia. The fact that their wages are paid in rubles which, when converted to dollars is about half the amount, is the reason why many migrants leave their jobs and return to Uzbekistan.
As a result of this, the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, instructed all governors to take measures to provide official employment for an additional 100,000 people. The president stated this today, 31 March, during a video-conference.
The Head of State ordered the officials to attract migrant workers to work on construction sites.
The meeting noted that, to date, 67 types of activity have been converted into self-employment. The president noted that there is an opportunity to increase the number of categories by 20 and create an additional 150 thousand jobs.
It was emphasized that the governors of the regions should provide official employment of an additional 100 thousand people by attracting returning citizens from labor migration to construction sites and allocating subsidies to provide them with the necessary equipment.
Instructions have been given to introduce a draft resolution on the introduction of new mechanisms to ensure employment.
Given the situation in world markets, rising prices for raw materials, fuel and food products, the possible impact of declining remittances from neighboring countries on the income of the population, and based on calculations of inflation, it has been suggested that proposals to further expand the scope of social support to the needy are made.
