The President visits almost 100-year-old veterans (photo reportage)

5342On 9 May, president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received paid a visit to the participants of the Second World War. The House of Abbas ota (father) in the Almazar district of Tashkent was first to host the visit of the president.
Abbas ota Appanov was born in 1924 in Tashkent. In February 1942 he went to war in Smolensk, then fought in Belarus, Poland, and Germany. Abbas ota, who returned to the country in 1946, taught German and English at a secondary school in Achaabad for many years, and wrote a primary school textbook of “German language”.
His services to world peace are recognized, and he has received many national awards.
“I came to talk to you, to welcome you, to wish you health. First, I congratulate you, all those involved in the war, our people on this holiday. May you always be healthy, I wish you to always be in our prayers and to be an example for our youth”, –Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
“By the grace of God, the care and kindness of our state, we have reached such an age. I wish you God’s help and blessings in your work for the good of our people. Thank you for your respect”, Abbas ota said.
“You are worthy of this respect. Respect for the elderly is a great value. We will continue to do so. Also our youth should know and follow this example”, –the President said.
The children of the war veteran are also retired. Today he has 21 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
The president also visited the house of Fyodor Fedin, who lives in Yashnabad district.
Fedor Semenovich was born in 1927 in Mordovia, Russia. In 1944, he was drafted into the army and served in the war as a liaison and instructor. He participated in the battles near Minsk. After the war, he served for several years in China. In 1949, he came to Tashkent and worked in an aircraft factory. He received many awards and he and his wife raised two daughters.
The president inquired about the health and welfare of these veterans. He thanked them for their contribution to today’s world and for many years of fruitful work.
The president also visited Akmal Ota Akramov’s house, a resident of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district.
Akmal Ota was born in 1924 in Tashkent. After graduating from school in 1941 he worked in a mechanical workshop. He fought in the war zones from 1942, then was seriously wounded.
After returning to Uzbekistan, he worked in the trade and food industry. At retirement age he held the position of chairman of the Tashkent Society of War and Labor Veterans and also he was head of the city branch of the «Nuroniy» Foundation.
“It is a great honor for you to take part in the war, to be a hero, to serve our country after the war, to raise children and grandchildren, and to reach such a great age. Your life, your every word is a lesson for us; I wish you good health and a long life. May God guide our youth your way, your life”,-Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Akmal ota also congratulated the Head of State on behalf of all the war veterans.
