By the end of the year, the governors (khokims), and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade need to launch 2,000 new projects in industrial zones.  This was stated by the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today May 26, at a video-conference devoted to measures to create special economic and small industrial zones in the regions (oblasts) and provide them with engineering and communication infrastructure.

According to the head of state, governors’ plans to create jobs at the expense of allocated funds in the state budget are unsatisfactory.  The plans should be reviewed within a week in correspondence with the funds allocated.

“In general, the governors of the regions, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade need to launch 2000 new projects in industrial zones by the end of the year”, –the president said.

The governors (khokims) of the regions have been tasked with creating 110 thousand additional jobs at the expense of these projects, producing products worth 17.5 trillion soms, and creating conditions for export of at least 1 billion dollars.

In addition, it was noted that in industrial zones in which the infrastructure is fully introduced, there are land plots, which will suffice for more than 1,000 new projects.
It has been instructed to put at least 250 land plots on the auction in 174 special zones within two months and to launch the projects.
