There will be no administrative penalty applied to drivers who fail to update their driver’s license to the new one by 1 April.  This was reported by the Road Safety Service.

Today, 31 March, is the last day to exchange old driving licenses for new ones.

From 1 April 1 this year, the old-style driver’s licenses issued before 2010 are considered invalid.

According to the traffic safety service, no administrative penalty will be given when applying for a replacement of a driver’s license or applying later without a replacement within the specified time.

It does not however, give someone the right to drive a motor vehicle, that is, anyone who drives a car with a driver’s license that has expired, or has not been replaced within the specified time period will be issued an administrative report as “driving without a document” in accordance with Article 135 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility.

We remind you that the deadline for mandatory replacement of all old-style national driver’s licenses and motor vehicle registration certificates varies depending on the period, and the latest deadline is 31 December of this year.
