On January 21, Uzbekistan national tennis team member Polina Kudermetova concluded her campaign at the Australian Open, a Grand Slam tournament. Kudermetova was defeated by her Danish opponent in the second round.
Competing in the women’s singles draw of the Australian Open currently underway in Melbourne, Kudermetova faced 23-year-old Danish player Clara Tauson in the second round.
The match lasted 1 hour and 53 minutes, with Kudermetova losing in three sets, 3–6, 6–3, 5–7, bringing her participation in the tournament to an end.
For reference, 22-year-old Polina Kudermetova advanced to the second round after defeating Spain’s Guiomar Maristany in the opening round. Clara Tauson, ranked 14th in the world, had earlier beaten Hungary’s Dalma Galfi in the first round.
It is worth noting that on January 19, another member of the Uzbekistan national team, Kamilla Rakhimova, was eliminated in the first round of the Australian Open after losing 6–2, 6–3 to world No. 3 Coco Gauff of the United States in a match that lasted exactly 100 minutes.
