The Islamic Republic of Pakistan began to supply meat to Uzbekistan. The first batch of meat worth 40 thousand dollars (18 tons amount) will arrive in Tashkent next week. Another 50 containers (a total of 900 tons) are expected to be shipped in March.

Malik Sher Khan, head of the Pakistani company “Shaheen”, said that Pakistan began to focus on the Uzbek market after preferential trade agreements.
It should be noted that on 4 March, the two countries signed a preferential trade agreement. The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Imran Khan agreed on the further development of the Trans-Afghan Railway, noting that there is potential to increase trade turnover to 500 million dollars.

It should be stated that Uzbekistan has been taking measures for several years to diversify transport routes and develop regional relations. According to Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the construction of the railway “Termez-Mazar-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar” will set up the closest, cheapest and safest way to connect Pakistan with Central Asia and bring Uzbekistan to the ports of Karachi, Gwadar and Qasim.

In addition, in November 2021, the first transit cargo from Uzbekistan arrived in Pakistan. The Pakistani side called it «the beginning of a new era of cooperation».
