12845At the meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the deputies discussed the issue of taking a break. In the end, the few triumphed over the many.
"According to the regulation, we have to take a break. We have four main issues left. We can either continue now without a break or take a break and resume at three o'clock. There is a Government watch at four o'clock. What do you say?" said Speaker Nurdinjon Ismoilov.
The proposal to continue the meeting without adjournment was put to a vote. According to the results, 89 deputies supported the proposal to continue without a break, 13 were against it, one abstained, and 15 deputies did not vote.
After that, the speaker put the proposal to a vote again. This time, the number of supporters remained at 89, while the opponents increased to 22.
"I don't understand. What are we going to do? Shall we continue, or shall we announce a break?" the speaker asked again.
Commenting on this proposal, MP Jahongir Shirinov said, "The minority should obey the majority and the review should be continued."
"I agree to continue the work, but we have to take into account one thing: 22 people are not working with enthusiasm," said Alisher Qodirov, deputy speaker.
Despite the low number of votes, the deputies decided to adjourn the parliamentary session.
"We will consider the opinion of the majority, but let's announce a recess. A recess until 3:00 p.m.," said the speaker.
