It is necessary to force them to learn their mother tongue - the President

One of the main tasks in 2023 will be to increase the quality of education in schools and the prestige of the teaching profession in society and to improve conditions.  President Shavkat Mirziyoyev mentioned this in his address to the chambers of the Oliy Majlis today, 20 December.

"First of all, we will focus on supporting education, which is the biggest investment for New Uzbekistan," said the President.

The President emphasized that salvation is in education, and salvation is in knowledge because all good goals are achieved through education and training.

"Increasing the quality of education in schools and the prestige of the teaching profession in society, improving the conditions will be one of our main tasks in 2023.  I believe that the protection of the status of teachers, their honor and dignity should be defined separately in the Constitution", said the President.

According to him, it is necessary to form students' free, critical and creative thinking, teamwork, and communication skills.

"From 2023, we will start to completely reform school education based on international educational programs", Mirziyoyev.

Also, attention to the mother tongue, which is a symbol of national identity and the basis of spirituality, will be strengthened.

"Of course, knowing a foreign language is the need of the hour, but it is necessary to force them to know their mother tongue," says the President.

Next year, 70 new schools will be built, and 460 will be expanded.

"We will start construction projects of 100 schools with the participation of private investments, and we will increase their number to a thousand in the next five years," said the head of state.

From the next academic year, free meals will be introduced in schools of all regions and the city of Tashkent.

"Since the beginning of the year, 285,000 primary school students have been provided with free meals in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm.  We have gained enough experience in this regard.  Now, from the next academic year, this practice will be introduced in the schools of other regions and the city of Tashkent, and 2.3 trillion soms will be allocated for this," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
