At the Navoi border customs post in Tashkent region, customs officials prevented the smuggling of 15 rare snakes listed in the Red Book. The Tashkent Regional Customs Department reported the incident.
During an inspection of civilian cargo being transported on foot from Uzbekistan to a neighboring country, officials discovered 15 live snakes of the “Kolvar” species that had not been declared during the oral inquiry.
These snakes are protected species listed in the Red Book to help preserve their natural population.
The seized snakes have been transferred to the Tashkent Zoo, where experts have assessed their condition as stable.
An investigation into the smuggling attempt is ongoing.
Earlier, a 1.5-meter snake was found in the National Park located in Tashkent’s Chilonzor district.
