Nodirbek Abdusattorov secures a place at the Freestyle World Championship

Nodirbek Abdusattorov has become the final participant in the Freestyle World Championship, which will take place in Weissenhaus, Germany. The Uzbekistan Chess Federation’s press service reported this.
The Uzbek grandmaster won the official Play-In qualification tournament held on the Chess.com platform. In the final, Abdusattorov defeated Pranav Venkatesh with a 2–0 score.
The competition will be held on February 13–15 this year in Weissenhaus, Germany. The tournament is organized under the auspices of FIDE in cooperation with Freestyle Chess.
The Freestyle World Championship is considered a logical continuation of previous FIDE tournaments held in the Fischer Random Chess format and will feature eight players. Six participants qualified based on the results of the 2025 Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour, while the remaining two were determined through qualification tournaments.
The players competing in the World Championship are:
- Magnus Carlsen (Norway);
- Levon Aronian (Armenia);
- Fabiano Caruana (United States);
- Vincent Keymer (Germany);
- Arjun Erigaisi (India);
- Javokhir Sindarov (Uzbekistan);
- Hans Niemann (United States);
- Nodirbek Abdusattorov (Uzbekistan).
It is worth noting that earlier it was reported that another Uzbek grandmaster, Javokhir Sindarov, would also take part in the World Championship.
