8970Today, June 21, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reappointed Nigmatilla Yoldoshev as the Prosecutor General. This decision was made during the 53rd plenary session.
Nigmatilla Yoldoshev has held the position of Prosecutor General since 2019. Under Uzbek legislation, the term for this office is five years. As his term had expired, the Senate discussed the role and decided to reappoint him.
Nigmatilla Yoldoshev was born on November 5, 1962, in Tashkent and graduated from the Faculty of Jurisprudence at Tashkent State University.
His career includes the following positions:
- 1987-1991: Senior Investigator at the Olmaliq Prosecutor's Office
- 1991-1993: Investigator in the Yunusobod district of Tashkent
- 1993-1994: Senior Investigator at the Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office
- 1994-1999: Head of Department at the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan
- 1999-2000: Head of the General Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office
- 2000-2003: Head of the Internal Security Inspection of the General Prosecutor's Office
- 2003-2006: Leading Inspector of the State Counselor Service of the President of Uzbekistan, coordinating law enforcement and control agencies
- 2006-2008: Head of the Department for Combating Tax, Currency-related Crimes, and Legalization of Criminal Proceeds under the General Prosecutor's Office
- 2008-2011: Deputy Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan
- 2011-2015: Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan
- January 22, 2015 to June 20, 2019: Member and Chairman of the Senate
Following the death of President Islom Karimov on September 2, 2016, Yoldoshev was appointed acting President by the Oliy Majlis. He handed over his responsibilities to interim Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 8, 2016.
On June 20, 2019, Yoldoshev was appointed Prosecutor General by a decree from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
