11855Naoya Inoue, the undisputed world champion in the super bantamweight division, is likely to lose his WBA title, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
Hearn, who also promotes Uzbek boxer Murodjon Akhmadaliyev, stated that Inoue has agreed to fight Mexican boxer Alan Picasso. As a result, the WBA belt may be stripped from Inoue, and interim champion Akhmadaliyev could be elevated to full champion status.
However, this development does not rule out the possibility of an Inoue-Akhmadaliyev fight. Hearn is reportedly working to organize a match between the two fighters by the end of 2025.
In the meantime, Naoya Inoue is scheduled to face IBF contender Sam Goodman on January 24.
It was previously reported that the Japanese boxer had agreed to a potential fight against Murodjon Akhmadaliyev.
