Reports have spread on social networks that water is flowing from the bottom of the reservoir “Ertikon.”  The regional administration of the Ministry of Emergency Situations commented on the situation.

It is noted that today, 14 June at 10:35am, according to the information received from the duty officer of the Department of Emergency Situations of the Namangan region, there was a leak (filtration) of water from the «Ertikon» reservoir in the village of Kukunboy, Kosonsoy district.

In order to address the aformentioned situation, the reservoir was surveyed jointly with the Namangan Regional Emergency Service and officials of the relevant organization.

The leakage of water from 2 local sections of the Ertikon reservoir (5 and 10 liters per second) began yesterday June 13 at 19:00pm.  It was found that the dam itself is strong and does not pose a threat to the population.

In order to prevent water leakage, the discharge of water from the Kosonsoy reservoir has been stopped and the discharge from the “Ertikon” reservoir into the Kalbuva and “Musa Aryk” (emergency discharge) has been increased to 4 meters per second.  Water seepage (filtration) sites have been eliminated due to the fact that the water discharge from the reservoir continued for 2 days.

At present, a 24-hour observation post composed of specialists has been set up to monitor the situation and supervise the work on the reservoir.
