Underage driver in Navoi causes fatal accident, kills a road patrol inspector

On April 15 of this year, a traffic accident involving students occurred in the Yangi Namangan district of the Namangan region, the regional Road Safety Department reported.

Two 8th grade students from school No. 70 in the Yangi Namangan district rented a Spark car for 8 hours from a group that offers cars for rent via Telegram for 1 million sums.

While driving the vehicle at high speed, they crashed into a concrete barrier on the side of the road. As a result of the accident, both children sustained various injuries and were hospitalized.

“The saddest thing is that the regional traffic police had previously held a discussion meeting at the school where these children studied. Their parents, teachers, and officials were warned because these children were underage drivers. The failure to draw appropriate conclusions led to this fatal outcome,” the report stated.

According to the report, the individual who rented the vehicle to the children did not yet have a driver’s license. It was established that he had purchased the car from a citizen in Tashkent on April 12 of this year. The vehicle’s owner expressed regret for his actions and stated that he would not repeat the mistake.

One of the students involved in the accident claimed that the car’s brakes failed at a speed of 120 km/h and added that the money used for the rental had come from his father’s workplace, though the father was unaware of it.

The boy’s father remarked that such incidents are common in the Namangan region and called on individuals who rent out cars to minors not to “sell their conscience for money.”

It should be recalled that on April 2 of this year, a Nexia-3 vehicle driven by schoolchildren collided with a truck in the Davlatabad district of the Namangan region. During the investigation, it was discovered that an 11th-grade student had rented the car to 9th graders for 2 hours for 220,000 sums.
