Tragic incident in Namangan: Mother throws herself and her two children into canal

In Namangan city, Namangan region, a tragic incident occurred where a mother threw herself into a canal along with her one- and three-year-old children. The news was confirmed by Hayot Shamsutdinov, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, in response to an inquiry from QALAMPIR.UZ.

The incident took place on December 20, 2024. A woman born in 1999, residing on Temir Street, took her sons born in 2021 and 2023 to the North Fergana Canal. The action was reportedly driven by family disagreements and emotional distress, exacerbated by prolonged separation from her husband.

Fortunately, two minors were rescued by bystanders who happened to be in the area. They received immediate medical assistance, which successfully saved their lives. However, the woman was retrieved from the canal later the same day by Namangan regional protection department personnel. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Namangan city prosecutor's office has initiated a criminal case under Articles 25, 97, Part 2, Subparagraphs "a, c" of the Criminal Code.

Earlier reports highlighted a similar incident where the body of a 33-year-old man was found in the Big Fergana Canal.
