People who organised a gambling game in a private home in Namangan city have been detained, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
During a law-enforcement operation conducted on 8 February, it was revealed that a resident of the Sardoba neighbourhood had been organising card gambling in his home in exchange for money.
During the operation, officers seized 10.54 million soums and 50 US dollars staked by seven participants, as well as 200,000 soums paid to the homeowner for organising the gambling venue and 14 decks of playing cards. The items were documented and confiscated.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 278, Part 1 of the Criminal Code (organisation and conduct of gambling and other games of chance), and an investigation is under way.
Earlier, a man who organised illegal cockfighting involving 121 participants in the Yangi Namangan district of Namangan Region was detained.
