Mirziyoyev reaches an agreement with Japarov on the border issue

Today, 31 August, the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the president of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov.  This is reported by the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan warmly congratulated each other on the celebration of independence and wished fraternal people peace, stability, and prosperity.

“It was noted with special satisfaction that Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership are steadily strengthening, and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries is developing dynamically.

Since the beginning of the current year, the volume of mutual trade has increased by 30%.  Intensive interregional exchanges are continuing, joint production cooperation projects are being implemented, and transport links are expanding. " Important cultural and humanitarian activities are being promoted," – the report said.

During the meeting, it was agreed to hold the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on delimitation and demarcation of State borders in September of the current year.

Special attention was paid to the promotion of priority infrastructure projects of regional importance in the fields of transport and energy, including the project construction of the hydroelectric power plant “Qambarota-1”.

The Heads of State also discussed the strengthening of cooperation in Central Asia and the agenda of the forthcoming SCO Samarkand Summit.
