Mirziyoyev and Aliyev held a private meeting at “Kuksaroy”

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a private meeting and the first session of the Interstate Supreme Council at the "Kuksaroy" residence, as reported by the President's press service.

The leaders discussed further deepening and expanding the strategic partnership and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.

"Today, we will sign the Treaty on Allied Relations. Over the past few years, we have managed to elevate Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations to the highest level of interstate cooperation," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was also agreed to declare 2025 as the "Year of Economic Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan" and to adopt a comprehensive program covering 20 priority areas. Goals were set to increase trade volume and advance to a new stage of industrial cooperation, including the implementation of joint projects in third countries.

The necessity of strengthening connectivity between the two countries through transport, communication, energy, and other infrastructural projects, including those on a multilateral basis, was highlighted. The parties agreed to increase the number of air routes, simplify ground and air transport procedures, and introduce digital solutions.

Additionally, the importance of activating interregional relations was emphasized. It was agreed to adopt a separate interregional cooperation plan for 2025, develop a partnership program for enhancing the industrial potential and infrastructure of the regions, and hold the next regional forum in the city of Kokand.

It is worth noting that the official welcoming ceremony for the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, was previously held at the "Kuksaroy" state residence in Tashkent. Furthermore, by the respective Decrees of the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, a ceremony was held at the Palace of Forums to award the honorary title of People's Artist of Azerbaijan to Farrukh Zakirov and the title of People's Artist of Uzbekistan to Polat Bulbulugli from Azerbaijan.
