President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the people of the country on 21 October - the Day of the Uzbek language holiday.  The congratulatory message says:

Dear compatriots!

First of all dears, I cordially congratulate you on today’s significant day   - the holiday of the Uzbek language.

Just as the homeland in which we are born, and the parents, who gave birth to us are adorable and honorable, so too is the native language, which determines our personality and spiritual world, it is more valuable and prestigious.

The words of the great scientist Mahmud Koshgari, who first studied our ancient Turkic language on a scientific basis, are deeply true: “All virtues begin with language.”  In fact, all the noble qualities in the human heart are perfected by the unique miracle, magic, and charm of the native language.

The preservation and development of this invaluable treasure, which is a clear mirror of the thinking of our people, is one of our most honorable tasks today.

Following the wise teaching of the great thinker Mir Alisher Navoi: “Attention to language - attention to the nation,” the state policy on language in our country is in full harmony with our fundamental reforms aimed at respect for human dignity.

It is true to say that in recent years a new stage has begun in the development of the Uzbek language in our country and that its role and influence in our lives have increased.

In particular, 21 October - the day of the Uzbek language holiday - was an unforgettable and historic event.  Decrees, decisions, and normative documents have been adopted to enhance the status and prestige of the state language.  In this direction, the concept and a separate program for 2020-2030 are being implemented.

It should be noted that, in accordance with recently adopted relevant laws, the procedure for publishing advertising and propaganda materials in the state language and the level of proficiency in the Uzbek language for admission to the State civil service have been established.

Activities of the Department of Spirituality and Development of the State Language under the Cabinet of Ministers have begun. Courses in the State language are available at the center and the local level.

In a short period of time, a five-volume “Annotated dictionary of the Uzbek language”, dictionaries of terms related to more than ten industries, and a thirty-volume research complex “Uzbek Science Studies of the Independence Period” were created.

Of course, it is gratifying that these days in our native language the 100-volume collection “Masterpieces of Turkic” literature| is published, and the electronic database of Uzbek information on the internet is supplemented by the efforts of our active and talented youth.

Selected samples of Uzbek classical and modern literature have been translated into foreign languages and attract the attention of foreign readers. Scientific and artistic works written by our talented scientists and creators are awarded prestigious international awards.

The International Olympiad on Uzbek Language and Literature among students of foreign countries also serves to promote our native language widely.

Today, some 50 million people around the world speak Uzbek.  This beautiful and attractive language is studied with great enthusiasm in many countries.

At present, great importance is attached to the preservation and development of the language, culture, and values of the various nationalities and peoples living in our country.  We will continue to work consistently in this direction.

Dear friends!

It is clear to all of us that the Uzbek language has a unifying value in uniting our multi-ethnic nation towards the noble goal of building a highly enlightened society, instilling in the hearts of our compatriots the feeling of a single Motherland and a common prosperous future.

Therefore, we must consistently continue the tasks we set for the development of the Uzbek language in the process of historical reforms aimed at the comprehensive development of New Uzbekistan and the creation of the foundations of the Third Rise.

Today, it has become vital to effectively fight with enlightenment and science against the ills that negatively affect the worldview, manners, and speech culture of our youth, especially the spiritual threats that are increasing through various electronic means.

In this regard, the Uzbekization of the language of information and communication technologies, further enriching the national segment of the global internet network, and creating a new generation of Uzbek and foreign language dictionaries and dictionaries are among our urgent tasks. It is necessary to create a solid foundation for the development of our mother tongue as a language of science and innovation by translating the achievements of world development and valuable resources into Uzbek.

In this sense, our enlightened grandfather Ishoqxon Ibrat, who created an invaluable dictionary book containing words in Uzbek, Arabic, Persian, Indian, Turkish and Russian languages, lived and created at the beginning of the 20th century: "Our youth, of course, they should try to learn another language, but first they should show respect to their mother tongue.  After all, his wise words "loyalty to one's language is a patriotic duty" should serve as an important program for us, a beacon that illuminates our life path.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all our selfless compatriots who have been making a worthy contribution to the honorable work of preserving and developing our mother tongue, which is a symbol of our national identity and pride.

Dear compatriots!

Once again, I sincerely congratulate you on the holiday of the Uzbek language and wish you all good health, blessings, peace, and safety to your family.
May the indelible wisdom of our mother tongue always illuminate our thoughts and hearts!
