Mirziyoyev congratulates Ursula von der Leyen

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated Ursula von der Leyen on her reappointment as President of the European Commission. This was reported by the President’s press service.
In his letter, Mirziyoyev emphasized von der Leyen’s significant personal contribution to elevating Uzbekistan’s relations with the European Union to a qualitatively and substantively new level in recent years. He acknowledged her support for the country’s irreversible democratic and socio-economic reforms.
Mirziyoyev also expressed confidence that joint efforts would advance cooperation to even higher levels across all priority areas.
“I am confident that the upcoming Central Asia-EU summit in Samarkand will be an important practical step towards enriching our regional relations with beneficial projects and programs,” the President's letter stated.
It should be noted that Ursula von der Leyen was previously reported to have been re-elected as President of the European Commission. She also promised in her political program to transform the European Union into a defense alliance.
