On February 18, upon his return to Tashkent from Kuwait, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Turkic Council, former Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim. Yildirim arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in international events focused on urban planning.

At the beginning of the meeting, Binali Yildirim conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

"The discussions emphasized the growing role of the Council of Elders in facilitating and strengthening cooperation among Turkic states," the report states.

The parties reviewed ways to expand practical partnerships further and intensify engagements to implement initiatives adopted at the Turkic Council summits. They also discussed preparations for upcoming events within the Organization of Turkic States framework.

The Council of Elders serves as a permanent advisory body under the Organization of Turkic States. The Turkish World Urban Planning Congress, organized by the Association of Engineers and Architects and founded in 2002 in Ankara, is among the key events attended by representatives from Uzbekistan. The administrations of Samarkand and Navoi actively participate in the association’s initiatives.
