Mirziyoyev holds talks with Serdar Berdimuhamedov

Today, August 4, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat. This was reported by the President’s press service.

At the meeting, the heads of state discussed the current issues of deepening strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.  It is noted that practical cooperation is expanding in all directions.

It is said that the volume of mutual trade between the two countries is increasing, and beneficial cooperation is expanding in various sectors of the economy.  In the conversation, it was noted that the “Shavot-Toshavuz” joint trade zone should be put into operation as soon as possible.

It was also emphasized the importance of promoting joint cooperation projects, exchanges between regions, and development of cultural and humanitarian relations. There was also a detailed exchange of views on the regional agenda.

For information, Shavkat Mirziyoyev will participate in the summit of leaders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan today, August 4.

Let’s remind that earlier, when President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Ashgabat, he was met at the airport by the national leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.  Mirziyoyev also held a meeting with him.

Last month, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree, which established the construction of a trade center in the trade zone on the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan border until 2025.
