9668In the next five years, the number of tourists coming to Uzbekistan will increase from the current 2 million to 9 million. This was stated on 23 August, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in his speech at a festive event dedicated to the opening of the International Tourism Center in the Samarkand district of the Samarkand region.
“3-4 years ago the number of local and foreign tourists visiting Samarkand did not exceed 500 thousand people. Now, thanks to our reforms in the field of tourism development and our efforts to create a favorable investment climate, the number of foreign tourists visiting Samarkand has doubled.
We have enough potential to get that target even higher. In particular, measures are being taken to increase the number of foreign tourists coming to Samarkand, up to 1.5 million in the coming years”, - Mirziyoyev says.
He noted that a modern complex in the future will be built in Bukhara.
“We have plans to implement such projects in all regions of our republic”, - the president said.
The Head of State said that he wants to increase the number of tourists coming to the country from the current 2 million to 9 million in the next five years.
This multi-purpose center, serving 2 million tourists a year, includes the complex “Eternal City”, a congress hall, 8 modern hotels, an amphitheater, and many other facilities.
An international team of experienced architects and engineers was involved in the development of the project. Highly qualified engineers and technicians from such countries as Turkey, Great Britain, and Italy took an active part in the construction.
