On September 10, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a Russian delegation led by St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov, the presidential press service reported.
The talks focused on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, with particular attention to economic projects and cultural and humanitarian exchanges with St. Petersburg.
The sides noted steady growth in mutual trade. Last year, the volume of regional exports and imports increased by 20 percent. Preparations are under way to open a Business Center in Tashkent and to develop a project for a “Petersburg area” in New Tashkent.
As part of the delegation’s visit, the parties adopted a “road map” for the implementation of 23 joint projects across metallurgy, equipment manufacturing, road construction, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, food processing, agriculture, logistics, and other sectors.
The meeting also considered proposals to strengthen cooperation in private medicine, education, utilities, digital technologies, migration, and tourism. Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining active humanitarian ties and organizing regular joint cultural events.
It was agreed to take steps to ensure the successful holding of the second meeting of the Uzbekistan–Russia Council of Regions in October this year.
For reference, President Mirziyoyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin previously held talks on September 2 in Beijing, China.
