Mirziyoyev holds a telephone conversation with Putin

On 24 May, the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation.  This is reported on the website of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It was noted that the presidents discussed topical issues of further development of the Uzbek-Russian strategic partnership and alliances, and expansion of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

Special attention was paid to the implementation of the agreements that were reached at the summit in Moscow last November.

It was stated with pleasure that since the beginning of this year the pace of the active dialogue and mutual visits increased.  Bilateral events were successfully held at the end of March in the framework of the first Tashkent International Investment Forum and the international industrial exhibition «Innoprom» in Tashkent in April in a new regional format.

Priority projects on industrial cooperation are being implemented.  Since the beginning of the current year, trade turnover has increased by 40%.

Important programs are being carried out in the areas of humanitarian cooperation, including education, health, culture, tourism, and sports.

Leaders of Uzbekistan and Russia stressed the importance of deepening the cooperation of the business community and effective use of the great potential of interregional ties.

There was also an exchange of views on the regional agenda and international policies.

«As always, the telephone conversation between the presidents of the two countries was conducted in the spirit of openness, trust, and friendship», - the report said.

According to the Kremlin press service, the telephone conversation was initiated by the Uzbek side.
