President Mirziyoyev honors IPU Secretary-General with Friendship Order

1647On April 7, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued a decree awarding Martin Chungong, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), with the "Friendship" Order. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.
It was noted that President Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the IPU, including its esteemed Chairperson, Tulia Ackson, and Secretary-General Martin Chungong, on April 7.
"The high-ranking representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Union warmly congratulated our nation's leader on the successful organization of the Union's jubilee Assembly in Tashkent and his programmatic speech at its plenary session," the statement read.
The fruitful cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IPU was highlighted, with both sides expressing satisfaction at the elevated and effective partnership.
During the meeting, the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening peace and constructive dialogue between nations, advancing "green" development, expanding legislative efforts in artificial intelligence, and increasing the involvement of women and youth in parliamentary activities was emphasized.
After the meeting, President Mirziyoyev awarded Martin Chungong with the "Friendship" Order for his significant contribution to advancing cooperation and promoting parliamentary diplomacy.
It is worth noting that earlier on April 7, President Mirziyoyev also met with heads of delegations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Central Asian countries who had arrived in Tashkent to participate in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
