Mirziyoyev presents prizes to Paralympic winners and medalists

Today, on September 13, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with the winners and medalists of the XVII Summer Paralympic Games, as reported by the President's press service.

The event was attended by the heads of the National Paralympic Committee, sports federations, coaches, athletes' parents, and representatives of state and public organizations.

The competition was held in Paris, France, from August 28 to September 8, and saw the participation of around 4,400 Paralympians from 168 countries. Uzbekistan was represented by 65 athletes competing in 9 sports.

As with the Olympics, Uzbekistan saw significant achievements and records at the Paralympic Games. The nation's athletes won a total of 26 medals: 10 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze, placing Uzbekistan 13th in the world, 3rd in Asia, and 1st among Turkish and Islamic countries, as well as the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The President congratulated the sports community on behalf of the people of Uzbekistan and delivered a speech.

"The Paralympic Games are a true testament to willpower, courage, perseverance, kindness, and humanism. You set high goals and became the true heroes of the competition. Uzbekistan has had many sporting achievements, but such a record result at the Paralympic Games has never been seen before," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

On September 12, the President signed a decree awarding a group of athletes and coaches who achieved outstanding results at the XVII Summer Paralympics in Paris with honorary titles, orders, and medals.

These prestigious awards were ceremoniously presented at the event.

"Despite all the challenges, you are individuals who strive only for victory. Those who strive and work hard will never be in short supply, just as society will never lack their contribution. May your qualities continue to grow, and may they always bring you happiness and success," said the President.

Athletes, coaches, and parents expressed their gratitude to the head of state for the respect and attention they received.
