President Mirziyoyev arrives in Astana

The Presidential Press Service reported that President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Astana today, June 17, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The head of state was welcomed at the capital's airport by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Oljas Bektenov, and other senior officials.

Today, the leader of Uzbekistan will participate in the next summit in the “Central Asia–China” format and hold talks with the President of China.

It is worth noting that the first summit in this format was held in Xi’an, China, in May 2023. It aimed to strengthen partnerships and expand practical cooperation between Central Asian countries and China.

As a reminder, yesterday, June 16, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping arrived in Kazakhstan. His plane was escorted by fighter jets of the Kazakh Air Defense Forces from the country’s border to the capital’s airport.
