Mirziyoyev discusses long-term projects with US business leaders in New York

On September 22, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a roundtable discussion with executives of leading US companies, investment funds, and financial institutions as part of his business program in New York City, the presidential press service reported.
The event was attended by US President’s Special Representative for South and Central Asia Sergio Gore, Special Representative for Global Partnerships Paolo Zampolli, Deputy Secretary of Commerce William Kimmitt, and President of the US-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm. Top managers of major companies including Franklin Templeton, Citigroup, BNY Mellon, NASDAQ, Boeing, Mastercard, Visa, General Motors, Nvidia, Oppenheimer, Jefferies, Air Products, Traxys, FLSmidth, GoGreen Partners, Cleveland Clinic, and Cargill also took part, along with heads of large Uzbek enterprises.
In his opening remarks, President Mirziyoyev stressed that during his recent dialogue with US President Donald Trump, the sides agreed to expand economic cooperation and develop a portfolio of major long-term projects. Against this backdrop, he noted, the meeting with US business leaders carried special importance.
Executives of American companies and banks thanked the President of Uzbekistan for the favorable conditions created for foreign investors and expressed readiness to take part in implementing large-scale projects and programs across various sectors.
In recent years, multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States has grown significantly. Bilateral trade has quadrupled in the past eight years, and more than 300 American companies are now operating in Uzbekistan.
Earlier, a ceremony was held to exchange bilateral agreements in the presence of President Mirziyoyev and US Special Representative Sergio Gore.
