Mirziyoyev lays wreath at the Independence monument

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “New Uzbekistan” park and laid a wreath at the foot of the Independence monument on August 29, the President's press service reported.
"The complex, which reflects the most significant events of our nation’s long history as well as the likenesses of our great scholars and world-renowned ancestors, has become a symbol of Independence. At its highest point, the Humo bird represents the state emblem and embodies the noble values of our people", the report stated.
The Head of State emphasized that the monument is a grand tribute dedicated to the motherland and to the honor of our brave, courageous, peace-loving, and hardworking people.

The representatives of the Legislative chamber and Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Presidential administration, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Tashkent city community also attended the ceremony of laying flowers at the base of the Independence monument.

It is worth noting that today, August 29, the representatives of state and public organizations, elders, and intellectuals gathered at the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate the victims of repression. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the ceremony. The Qur’an was recited in honor of the nation’s heroes, and food was distributed to the public. Near the symbolic grave in the alley, the Qur’an was also recited. Scholars and intellectuals held discussions on studying history, teaching it to the younger generation, and emphasizing the value of independence and peace.
