Mirziyoyev expresses condolences to the leader of Myanmar

Today, March 29, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a letter of condolences to the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, General Min Aung Hlaing, in connection with the loss of life, injuries, and severe destruction caused by a powerful earthquake. This was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok, Thailand.  

According to reports, the head of state expressed his deep condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives during this difficult and tragic time, as well as to the people of Myanmar.  

Earthquake in Myanmar

On the morning of March 28, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.4 in magnitude struck Myanmar. The disaster caused the collapse of a bridge over the Irrawaddy River and partial destruction of the historic Mandalay Palace. According to the latest reports, more than 1,600 people have died.  

Tremors were also felt in China, Thailand, and Vietnam. In Bangkok, a building under construction collapsed, killing 10 people and injuring at least 50 others. The Thai government has declared a state of emergency in the capital.
