Mirziyoyev receives Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

3959On April 23, in the city of Samarkand, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov, who is in Uzbekistan on a working visit. This was reported by the press service of the President.
At the beginning of the meeting, the high-ranking guest conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to the head of state.
During the conversation, the parties discussed pressing issues concerning the further strengthening of Uzbek-Russian relations of friendship, comprehensive strategic partnership, and alliance, particularly in the context of implementing the agreements reached at the highest level.
"It was noted with satisfaction that active dialogues and fruitful exchanges are being conducted in all areas. The volume of trade and investment is increasing. Cooperation between regions and leading industrial enterprises is strengthening. Interaction in the spheres of culture, art, science, education, healthcare, sports, and tourism is also expanding," the report said.
The sides also exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual interest.
It should be recalled that Sergey Lavrov arrived in Samarkand on April 22. He was received at the airport by his Uzbek counterpart, Bakhtiyor Saidov.
According to Ahror Burkhanov, press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, negotiations between the Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Russia began on April 23 in a friendly and constructive spirit. The parties are discussing the current state and prospects of political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, along with an exchange of views on regional and international developments.
