Mirziyoyev congratulates new President of South Korea

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated Lee Jae-myung on his election as President of the Republic of Korea and extended his best wishes. The press service of the Uzbek President reported the news.

In his congratulatory letter, Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that under Lee Jae-myung’s leadership, South Korea’s intellectual and economic potential would continue to grow, and its standing in the international community would be further strengthened.

“We pay special attention to elevating our friendly and comprehensive relations with the Republic of Korea to a new level. I am confident that during your presidency, our special strategic partnership will rapidly develop in all priority areas,” the letter stated.

To further enhance the long-term and multifaceted relationship between the two countries, President Mirziyoyev invited Lee Jae-myung to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time.

It is worth recalling that on June 3, early presidential elections were held in South Korea. Lee Jae-myung, the candidate from the Toburo Democratic Party, won the election with 49.4 percent of the vote. His main opponent, Kim Moon-soo of the Civic Power Party, secured 41.15 percent, while Lee Jong-suk of the Reform Party received 8.34 percent. Kwon Yong-guk of the Workers’ Democratic Party garnered 0.98 percent, and independent candidate Sung Jin-ho received 0.1 percent.
