Mirziyoyev attends 80th victory anniversary parade in Beijing

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his wife attended the ceremonial events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II, held today, September 3, at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

The parade was also attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and the heads of state and government of 24 other countries.

In his speech, President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory, maintaining peace, and ensuring justice in the contemporary world. The parade featured 45 units of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, showcasing the latest models of missile systems, tanks, aviation equipment, and unmanned aerial vehicles developed by the Chinese defense industry.

Military parades in Beijing have been held since 1949, with the most recent major parade taking place on October 1, 2019, involving approximately 15,000 participants.

President Mirziyoyev’s participation in the Beijing events highlights Uzbekistan’s consistent foreign policy, focused on strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between nations and fostering constructive dialogue at regional and global levels to promote peace, sustainable development, and prosperity.
