Mirziyoyev meets with chairman of China's parliament

On July 8th, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received a delegation led by Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China. This was reported by the President's press service.

The Chinese parliamentary leader conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, to the Uzbek leader.

The meeting emphasized with great satisfaction that in recent years, the friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China have reached a high level.

It was noted that the agreements reached during the Uzbek President's state visit to China in January this year are being consistently implemented.

Confidence was expressed that the results of the high-level productive negotiations held within the framework of the SCO summit in Astana would give new impetus to expanding multifaceted cooperation between the countries.

It was confirmed that China firmly supports Uzbekistan's socio-economic reforms, especially the poverty reduction program, as well as plans to develop infrastructure, industrial cooperation, agriculture, and strategic partnership programs in the field of "green" energy.

The importance of promptly starting practical work on the construction of the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway was noted.

The high appreciation of active interregional connections was highlighted. Next year, the second Regional Forum will be held.

Discussions were held on opening branches of Chinese universities in Uzbekistan, expanding cooperation in professional education, and supporting the activities of the Confucius Institute. The second Education Forum is planned for next year.

Exchanges of views were made on cultural and tourism exchanges.

The necessity of further expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, activating contacts between parliament members, and studying the legislative experience to support ongoing reforms was particularly emphasized.

It was noted that a "roadmap" for implementing activities aimed at deepening cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries is envisaged.
