“Arkadag” arrives in Samarkand

The national leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, arrived in Samarkand on April 23. The press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported the visit.

The distinguished guest was welcomed at Samarkand International Airport by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The airport was festively decorated with the national flags of both countries to mark the occasion.

According to the official agenda, the visit includes bilateral meetings and participation in joint cultural events.

During the talks, the sides are expected to discuss ways to further strengthen Uzbek-Turkmen relations based on friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership.

It is worth noting that prior to arriving in Uzbekistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Kazakhstan on April 21. He was welcomed at Turkestan Airport by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Together, they visited one of the most significant spiritual, historical, and cultural landmarks of the Turkic world — the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yassawi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On April 22, Tokayev held an informal meeting with Berdimuhamedov, with a particular focus on expanding cooperation in the gas sector, including Kazakhstan’s potential participation in the development of the Galkynysh gas field in partnership with foreign investors.

Following his stay in Kazakhstan, the Turkmen leader traveled to Kyrgyzstan’s Cholpon-Ata region, where he was received by President Sadyr Japarov. The two leaders held talks today, April 23, in Cholpon-Ata. They also attended a presentation of Kyrgyz national equestrian sports — "Jorgo Salish" and "Blue Pipe" — held at the hippodrome in the village of Baktuu-Dolonotu, Issyk-Kul region. President Japarov later accompanied Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Issyk-Kul International Airport, concluding the visit.
