9362As part of the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, accompanied by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, visited the "Imarat" historical and architectural complex in the city of Agdam. This was reported by the press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan.
The heads of delegations from ECO member states also visited the site.
The leaders were briefed on the conditions and ongoing construction work within the complex. Guests were treated to a cultural performance titled “Zafar,” featuring Karabakh horsemen and showcasing the region's rich cultural heritage and traditions.
For reference, Agdam is located in the western part of Azerbaijan, in the Karabakh district. Since 2021, the city’s infrastructure has been undergoing active restoration, with new schools, kindergartens, residential buildings, and administrative facilities under construction.
The “Imarat” complex includes the palace and mausoleum of Panah Ali Khan, the founder of the Karabakh Khanate. In 2024, the site reopened following extensive restoration work and archaeological research.
A park dedicated to Karabakh horses (tulpors) and an interactive museum have also been established at the site.
It is worth recalling that on July 3, within the framework of the ECO summit in Khankendi, President Mirziyoyev also met with Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban’s interim government in Afghanistan.
