The Ministry of Agriculture has been tasked with launching projects worth 400 million dollars by the end of the current year.  This task was given by the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, 27 April at a meeting on the further development of education in the agrarian sphere and the implementation of agricultural projects.

According to the president, 580 new projects have been developed, but the implementation of them is often delayed due to the issue of short-term credits.  In this regard:

• the Ministry of Agriculture will be authorized to launch projects and sell them on a basis of a lease;
• the Horticulture Agency will receive $20 million by 1 May and another $45 million by the end of the year given the results;
• as a result, this year 1800 hectares of intensive gardens and vineyards will be planted in 6 regions, and entrepreneurs will be given the concession to sell on a lease basis for 7 years;
• from 1 May, credits for the construction of gardens and vineyards will be granted to entrepreneurs for a period of at least 10 years;
• until the end of the year, together with the private sector, 17 small agrologistic centers with a total capacity of 115 thousand tons will be launched.  They are sold «ready-made» on the basis of a lease for at least a period of 10 years with a grace period of 5 years.

It is noted that over the past five years, the industry attracted 2.5 billion dollars of foreign resources. Of these, 1.7 billion dollars were embezzled and about 4,000 projects were implemented.

Consequently, 2,500 hectares of modern greenhouses, 11,000 hectares of intensive gardens, 6 seedling farms and 350,000 tons of storage with refrigerators have been created.  Currently, the industry has the assimilated assets of 810 million dollars.
