3956President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit on November 11, as reported by the President's press service.
The summit, chaired by Saudi Arabia, was attended by heads of state and government from leading nations in the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and Africa.
Following the agenda, discussions focused on uniting international efforts to reduce tensions in Gaza and Lebanon and to address the crisis through political means as soon as possible.
"The head of state expressed special gratitude to the Custodians of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, for organizing this summit dedicated to the most pressing issue on the global political agenda - the Palestinian problem," the report noted.
Regret was expressed that, since the 2023 meeting in Riyadh, the scale of this conflict has expanded further, now encompassing areas in Lebanon.
The President fully supported all practical initiatives aimed at resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through peaceful and diplomatic means.
There was confidence expressed at the summit that effective mechanisms and specific solutions would be developed and implemented at both global and regional levels.
It was emphasized that the United Nations and the Security Council should keep a constant focus on the immediate cessation of hostilities, the provision of safe humanitarian corridors, and the initiation of peace negotiations.
The President acknowledged that the Palestinian people, with their ancient and rich history, have every right to establish an independent and free state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the borders of 1967.
In line with this, he expressed support for the global alliance for a two-state solution, an initiative spearheaded by Saudi Arabia.
Furthermore, to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Palestine and Lebanon, he suggested that leading countries and international organizations, including the United Nations Special Agency, increase the scope of their aid.
Mirziyoyev expressed readiness to offer treatment in Uzbek hospitals for Palestinian children and women affected by the conflict.
He also mentioned plans to discuss practical assistance for the Palestinian people at the upcoming "Gulf Arab States - Central Asia" summit in Samarkand next year.
The president emphasized the importance of protecting the holy "Al-Aqsa" mosque and other unique historical and cultural monuments in Jerusalem.
Concluding his speech, the President expressed hope that this meeting would mark a significant step toward resolving the Middle East issue.
Following discussions, a joint resolution was adopted, affirming the parties' commitment to urgently pursue a political and diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
