Mirziyoyev attends opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games

5310On September 8, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participated in the opening ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games in Astana, as reported by the President's press service.
The event, held at the Astana Arena, was also attended by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev; the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov; the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov; the Chairman of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov; and other foreign guests.
More than 2,000 athletes from approximately 90 countries, including representatives from Uzbekistan, are participating in the competition. Uzbek athletes are competing in wrestling, tug-of-war, archery, horse racing, and other traditional sports.
A theatrical performance celebrating the rich culture, history, traditions, and customs of nomadic peoples was presented to the participants.
Following the ceremony, Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Tashkent. The high-ranking guest was seen off at Astana International Airport by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov.
