Uzbekistan honors Turkmen Leader Berdimuhamedov with the supreme award

Following bilateral negotiations, a formal ceremony was held to present Turkmenistan's national leader and Chairman of the People's Council, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, with Uzbekistan's highest state award—the "Order of Supreme Friendship." The event was reported by the press service of the Uzbek President.

While handing over the award, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted Berdimuhamedov’s remarkable contributions to strengthening the longstanding friendship, good-neighborly relations, and strategic partnership between the two fraternal nations.

"All of Turkmenistan’s great achievements, large-scale reforms, and growing international influence are closely linked with your name," Mirziyoyev stated.

Turkmenistan continues to experience stable economic growth and an increase in public welfare. President Mirziyoyev also acknowledged Berdimuhamedov’s global initiatives aimed at enhancing security and sustainable development.

In this regard, Berdimuhamedov’s proposal to declare 2025 the “Year of Peace and Trust” has received widespread international support.

The personal efforts of the Turkmen leader have elevated Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan relations to an exemplary level, Mirziyoyev emphasized.

"Thanks to your support, the foundation for our nations’ strategic partnership was firmly established in 2017," he added.

Economic collaboration between the countries is thriving, with active engagements among parliaments, governments, businesses, intellectuals, and youth. Trade has multiplied in recent years, surpassing $1 billion.

"Our cultural and humanitarian cooperation deserves special recognition. Last year, Makhtumkuli’s works were published in Uzbek, and a joint Uzbek-Turkmen film premiered at the Ashgabat International Film Festival," the statement noted.

The awarding of Uzbekistan’s highest honor to Berdimuhamedov was described as a symbol of deep respect for the distinguished statesman and the architect of modern Turkmenistan.
