3370The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during his visit to Ashgabat. This was reported by the President's press service.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the successful organization of the international forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Firoghi.
During the conversation, they focused on further expanding Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan strategic partnership relations, deepening multilateral cooperation, especially in political, inter-parliamentary, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian areas.
It was noted with satisfaction that mutual trade is growing rapidly, a joint cross-border trade area is being established, and cooperation in energy, transport, agriculture, and water management is increasing.
Regular activities within the framework of active interregional, business, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges were also mentioned. Both leaders discussed current regional and international issues.
Plans for future high-level dialogues were also on the agenda.
Mirziyoyev presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with a collection of Makhtumkuli's selected works published in Uzbek.
For reference, today, October 11, an international forum was held in Ashgabat to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Firoghi under the theme "Interdependence of Times and Civilizations – The Foundation of Peace and Development."
The event, chaired by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, saw participation from leaders including President Vladimir Putin of Russia, President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadir Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, President Imamali Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Masoud Pezeshkiyan of Iran, President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan, and President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh of Mongolia. Heads and high-ranking representatives of parliaments and international organizations were also in attendance.
It should be noted that Mirziyoyev, while attending the conference, supported the proposal to hold a global summit in Ashgabat next year as part of the "Year of International Peace and Trust," which was declared by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan. Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the President of Uzbekistan for his meaningful speech and for the steps taken in Uzbekistan to commemorate the legacy of Makhtumkuli Firoghi. He also announced that Mirziyoyev would be awarded a medal on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet and thinker.
