Mirziyoyev holds a telephone conversation with the former President of Turkmenistan

Today 16 May, the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with chairman of the People's Assembly under the National Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.

The sides discussed issues of further strengthening ties of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

It was noted with satisfaction that effective inter-parliamentary dialogue is also developing in the regional format.

The Head of State sincerely congratulated the Turkmen side on the successful holding of international events, the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asia and Russia and the Women's Dialogue in Ashgabat on May 12-13.

The proposal of organization of the forum work on a regular basis, and establishment of a permanent secretariat, was bilaterally supported.

In the international agenda, the parties exchanged views on the continuation of regional cooperation and the development of an effective partnership within multilateral organizations, as well as the promotion of peace and security in Afghanistan and the reconstruction of its economy.
