President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan exchanged warm congratulations over the phone today, March 20, on the occasion of Navruz, the spring holiday. They extended their best wishes for peace, prosperity, and progress to the brotherly peoples of both nations, according to the President’s press service.

The discussion also covered key issues aimed at further expanding and strengthening the friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Special attention was given to implementing practical cooperation plans in line with agreements reached during President Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan in August last year.

“It was noted with great satisfaction that effective joint efforts are being carried out within the framework of the ‘Year of Economic Cooperation.’ Trade turnover is increasing, and projects in sectors such as automotive, textiles, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture, tourism, and many others have entered an active phase. Additionally, cultural and humanitarian exchange events are being held regularly,” the statement highlighted.

The two leaders also exchanged views on matters of international significance and reviewed plans for upcoming high-level bilateral meetings and multilateral summits.

On March 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held phone conversations with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, and President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan. On March 19, he spoke with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan. During these calls, the leaders exchanged heartfelt congratulations on Navruz, wishing each other good health, prosperity, and success, as well as peace and progress for their brotherly nations.
