Two fraudsters who agreed to buy cars on installment plans but defaulted on payments were arrested in Tashkent, according to the Tashkent City Police Department.

The two individuals conspired to place online ads offering to purchase cars on lease, requiring an initial payment of $500-600. They assured sellers that the remaining balance would be paid in equal monthly installments.

However, when the payment deadlines approached, the fraudsters neither made the payments nor returned the cars. It was discovered that they had acquired about a hundred cars this way, which they then resold at lower prices in other regions.

The police swiftly apprehended the suspects, and a criminal case was initiated against them under Article 168 (fraud) of the Criminal Code. They are currently in custody.

Victims of these fraudsters are urged to contact +998 (93) 293-03-30.

Previously, authorities also sought individuals who fraudulently collected payments for apartments under construction in the Uchtepa and Chilonzor districts of Tashkent.
