Russian commentator Dmitry Guberniev has said he will support Uzbekistan’s national team at the 2026 World Cup. He made the remarks in an interview with Sport-Express.
“When our team plays at the World Cup, I support it. Now, as the tournament goes on, I will decide who to support. And despite my respect for Douglas Santos as a footballer, it is unlikely to be Brazil.
Uzbekistan has qualified for the World Cup, so I will support them. As the Yalla band and Natalya Nurmukhamedova sang, there is an eternal motto: ‘Baka-baka-bang, dor o‘ynag’ — if you fall, do not cry, get up. That is also a life motto for me. That is why I will support Uzbekistan,” Guberniev said.
For reference, the final stage of the World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 this year in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Uzbekistan has been drawn in Group K alongside Portugal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Colombia.
