The president of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will visit Uzbekistan from March 29-31 on an official visit. This was announced today, 24 March, at the event «30 years of Turkey-Uzbekistan relations based on common history and culture», organized by the Information and Communications Department under the president’s office of the Republic of Turkey.

It should be noted that the first summit of the Organization of Turkic States is expected to be held in Uzbekistan this year. Previously, the union was called the Organization of Turkic States. In 2021, it officially received the status of an organization.

It should be recalled that the upcoming event will be the third visit of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Uzbekistan in the last six years. The Turkish leader last visited Uzbekistan in April 2018.

In turn, Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s last visit to Turkey occurred in February 2020.

The two presidents last met in Istanbul in November 2021 during the 8th Summit of the Organization of Turkish States.

For reference, Uzbekistan became a member of the Cooperation Council of Turkic States in September 2019. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the summit in Baku in October 2019.
